This weekend (September 28-30, 2012) is the 37th annual Knoxville Home Show presented by Clayton Homes.
Clayton offers 19 models at the Home Show. It’s free, open to the public and has an on the spot financing company there to help anyone ready to purchase a home. They’ve also incorporated a classic car show, giving the complete feel of a neighborhood, Free food and a country fair theme add to the family atmosphere.
If you don’t already know, Clayton builds, sells, finances, leases, and insures manufactured and modular homes, for both residential and commercial uses. In 2003, Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., the holding company founded by businessman Warren Buffet, acquired Clayton. After the acquisition, the entity began buying other manufactured housing companies, most notably Oakwood Homes and Freedom Homes. Today, they are one of the largest manufactured home builders in the world.
Clayton has a tradition of designing great layouts. Their exterior customizations on their upscale homes include modern horizontal windows, thicker trims and the use of multiple siding materials.
Pitched roof lines and a modern arts and crafts style is the most recent trend. By adding more than one siding type and using 2 colors with bold white trim and black accents they are able to add more dimension.
Their interior designs are just as nice as the exterior features. They are taking note from the most popular interior designers of the day by combining lots of storage, time-saving features along with high fashion looks.
One of the newest trends is the hideaway hamper. It’s essentially a small opening from the bathroom to the laundry room. There’s no doubt it would be handy and a great time saver.

Another new bathroom feature is a coffee maker. Yep, you can fix a drink in the same room you rid your body of drinks. Isn’t that appetizing!? I’m all for convenience and time saving but this is taking things entirely to far and there’s no way it can be sanitary even though I assume there is a door separating the toilet from the sink. It’s still too close in my book. A built-in hairdryer would make more sense. In general, though, built in electronics are rarely a good idea in a home, technology and style are always changing.

Of course, Clayton has several beautiful features in their bathroom designs.The cubed shelves, trimmed sunken tubs, and high style finishes are all today’s most sought-after elements.

A noticeable feature in several homes is the matching countertop and backsplash. The use this in both kitchens and bathrooms. I really like the effect if gives in both rooms. By using the same material you’re adding depth and singularity. It’s a great way to extend a space and make it cohesive at the same time.

Several different styles of kitchens are available. This makes finding the perfect kitchen easy for anyone. The kitchen island is back and bigger than ever. Open shelving, pendant lights as well as recessed lights are all prominent features now.
I have every intention to go to next years Home Show since Knoxville is only 4 hours from me. I would’ve been at this one but I had to work. There’s nothing better than getting to see so many new manufactured homes in one place. A person could easily get all the ideas they need to remodel their home.
