Welcome to Mobile & Manufactured Home Living

Mobile & Manufactured Home Living!

Welcome to Mobile and Manufactured Home Living! I have been researching for a while now on how to get this blog going.  How to keep to my topic and have enough material to post on a regular schedule. Well, I figured I would never know how if I did not just dive in. I am not computer savvy, but I am a pretty quick learner, so here goes nothing.

My goal is to start a community of other mobile and manufactured homeowners to have a place to share ideas, inspirations and information. A blog for us, by us. I hope to have guest writers that live in mobile homes and owners that will share their beautiful homes with us. I will also try to find answers to any questions you may have. I have a vision of this being an online magazine much like House Beautiful but with mobile and manufactured homes.

In case you want to know more about me: I am a proud West Virginian that owns an older single wide. I want to remodel this home and turn it into a more modern, environmentally friendly structure, and I plan on doing it as cheaply as possible. I looked online for mobile home remodeling ideas but was not able to find much. That is how I got the idea for this site.

I get upset with the stereotype, and I’m sure you do too. I hope we can come up with a way to help change a few minds, share some awesome homes and educate those that are not familiar with mobile and manufactured homes.

Living in a mobile home is a great way to live affordably. They are perfect while saving up for that dream home, or if you are like my family, a way to afford other things such as traveling and camping.

I hope this becomes a site you will want to share with your friends and family. Here we go!

    Hi Crystal,
Any chance you can find a DIY on re-roofing a leaky bay window. Love this sight,
thanks for keeping it real for all of us mobile home owners.

I have lived in a 1978 mobile home for 21 yrs. and have spent that time remodeling. Little by little, we have been able to get things done. Now that my husband has passed, it will take me longer to do a project. We replaced the linoleum floors in kitchen and baths with tile. The kitchen is terra cotta tile and bathrooms ceramic. I love the southwest and feature a lot of the colors of that area. I live in Maine, but originally came from Mass. where we had a ranch house, kids, horses and dogs. My living room and master bedroom have parquet floors, which were custom done in factory in 1978. Carpeting has been put down the hall and into what was my husband’s music room. Now that he is gone, I have changed into a guest room; as there is a half bath off of it. My husband’s many awards still adorn the walls.

I shall have fun looking at all you have accumulated on your site. Thanks for all the hard work.
