A Spartan Mobile Home is a favorite of most vintage mobile home fans and for good reason. The story of the company is as fascinating as the homes they produced. It’s a true American tale of innovation and the ability to adapt during difficult times.

Below is a 1959 Spartan Mobile Home for sale. The model is known as a ‘carousel.’ The name describes the roundabouts ceiling and circular counters in the kitchen. It was a retro-mod-mid-century design. (How was that for a sentence?) Basically, Spartan’s mixed space age and traditional design in a way that appealed to a broad range of consumers, regardless of which style they liked most.

The exterior of a Spartan can’t be mistaken. Aluminum and large windows, usually on the front.
This beautiful Spartan Mobile Home was for sale at one time but I can’t find the original posting now (please let me know if you can so I can credit the images properly). If I recall correctly, the asking price was around $50,000.

I am trying to find this 1950 spartan carousel that you have posted for sale or one of similar. Can you please help me.
Hi Tricia,
Spartans are fairly hard to find. You'll want to setup a alert on Craiglsist through Search Tempest so that you will be notified of any Spartan Trailers within your designated areal. There's also several websites that you'll want to visit often: Vintage Trailer Sales, Tin Can Tourists, etc.
I've been looking for a decent Spartan that's affordable for years and haven't had any luck yet. If you are on the West Coast you'll have an easier time though.
Best of luck!
Hello, everyone, I am looking for a 1950 or 1960 Spartan Royal Manor 8' by 36', we understand the 1960 is taller but also weighs less.
Please email me with any information you may have.
Thank you

Hi Brad!
I'm always looking for awesome vintage homes to feature. Could you email some photos and short description about your project? My email is crystaladkins@mobilehomeliving.org/.
Thanks!
Love LOVE LOVE this article and would, of course, love to own it to live in. I just love the vintage trailers and the Spartans are one of my absolute fav's! They are soooo classy and sexy!
Thanks for making my drool. :P
The Spartan Carousels were in '59 and '60.
Here's a link to some basic info about Spartans.

There are many Spartan Groups out there. You'd probably enjoy looking at how beautiful some of the restored trailers are. One guy just found a Royal Mansion that had been under a roof for the last 40+ years. It was perfect inside!
Thanks so much Chris! That's what I get for not double-checking my articles! I have some great resources on Spartans (the original Spartan price book, where the link you shared got their information) but I didn't take the time to double check the listing.
Appreciate you taking the time to let me know and thanks for reading Mobile Home Living!
