“You can do absolutely anything in a mobile or manufactured home. The sky is the limit. Just do it, prove them all wrong,” Tracy Fields says and she did just that.

The average cost to remodel a home in 2019 is $36,121 but Tracy’s 1997 Fuqua double wide remodel in Klamath Falls, Oregon, was completely updated for less than $32,000 and it’s a beautiful study in warmth and light.

This Stained Wood Ceiling is Beautiful!

The farmhouse home decor craze has been in full swing for several years. It’s a great style with a focus on white, imperfect surfaces, and natural materials but what happens when you forego white and add rich browns and jewel-tone color instead?

It’s refreshing to see a homeowner go another way with the beautiful farmhouse style. It doesn’t have to be all-white!

Wood ceiling planks are one of our favorite mobile home ceiling replacement materials and it’s easy to see why. No other material can give a home the warmth and texture that wood gives.

Tracy painted her walls a subtle tan and introduced weathered items like the window frames to get the farmhouse look without a ton of white.

Tracy used slate tile, Pergo XP chocolate oak throughout the main living areas of her 1997 Fuqua double wide remodel

Moldings, trim, baseboards, crown molding is all House of Fara available at Home Depot.

Fantastic Fireplace

The slate stone behind the gorgeous fireplace is another naturally warm surface. The room with the fireplace doesn’t have the stained wood ceiling so it’s not too dark. Of course, adding a huge picture window allows tons of light into the room.

What a beautiful scene!

Dreamy Kitchen

The living room and den weren’t the only rooms to get a complete DIY makeover in this 1997 Fuqua double wide.

Tracy pulled together gorgeous natural materials and warm colors to create a dreamy kitchen.

Here you can see the ceiling is cut out to make pendant lighting possible.

Kitchen Remodel

Warm colors are a great addition to this dreamy kitchen.

The new cabinets and countertop look great with the stainless steel appliances.

Tips and Tricks for Mobile Home Remodels

Tracy says that with the right tools and research you can do anything in a mobile/manufactured home that you can do in a stick-built home. Some times you have to use some creative thinking but, with enough thought, it can be done.

Of course, gorgeous granite is used throughout the kitchen. It’s been the most popular countertop material for over 15 years now.

Luxury Farmhouse Master Bedroom Suite

Of course, Tracy continued her modern farmhouse look into the master bedroom suite. The bedroom has a magnificent stained ceiling too!

I love this bedroom!

Master bedroom paint is Longmeadow by Behr Marquee. The rest of the house is custom colors from Behr Marquee.

Tracy gave the bathtub a complete makeover by stacking slate around the bottom and the surround.

Gorgeous!

Lovely Laundry Room in 1997 Fuqua Double Wide Remodel

The laundry room is one of my favorite rooms in Tracy’s home! She has such a great talent at mixing together different textures and colors.

A stone tile backsplash, warm wood trim, and stained wooden countertop set the stage for her unique sink. I love it!

Tracy’s knack for adding natural materials together is offset by an ultra-modern faucet. Adding something modern into a space helps keep it from looking too primitive.

She also added a unique shoe rack:

Stone and wood are natural partners in home decor but adding white and other bright colors into the scenery is a great way to modernize a space.

Storing firewood is messy and having a good system for storage is important in homes with wood stoves and fireplaces.

Tracy got creative with her firewood storage and I LOVE it!

Favorite DIY Moment

I asked Tracy what her favorite DIY moment was during her remodel:
When we were installing the floor we basically had to go around this huge”island” room in the middle of the house. I was freaking out that we would not meet in the middle. When we got around that and the floor just came together perfectly I almost cried. It was such a relief to have that just come together perfectly.”

Biggest Challenge During the Remodel

When I asked Tracy what her biggest challenge she was honest, “I would have to say the doubters were my biggest challenge. When I told my husband I wanted to remodel the house (again) he told me that he was fine with it but I was doing it on my own.”

She went on to say, “I did it with very minimal help from anyone. My husband helped me with the heavy lifting and some planning aspects but other than that I did it by myself. The people that told me that it couldn’t be done because it was a manufactured home or because I was a woman. Those were my biggest challenges.”

Tracy surely met those doubters and naysayers head-on and proved to them that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

The grand finale for this 1997 Fuqua double wide remodel is the front porch. It is breathtaking! It adds so much curb appeal!

Advice for Living in a Mobile Home

Finally, I asked Tracy for advice she would give anyone thinking of buying or living in a mobile home.

You can do absolutely anything in a mobile/ manufactured home. The sky is the limit. Just do it, prove them all wrong.

Thank you, Tracy, for sharing your gorgeous 1997 Fuqua double wide remodel.
