Actress Minnie Driver purchased a Malibu mobile home a few years back and totally transformed it into her dream home and when we found it online we knew we wanted to share it with our readers. Featured on several sites, including House Beautiful and People Magazine, this double wide is a beach lover’s dream come true.

Minnie isn’t the first famous person to see the hidden beauty of manufactured homes. In fact, we have shared homes from famous designer Betsy Johnson, as well as Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson’s former mobile home. Now let’s take a look at Minnie’s double wide transformation!

Retreat from Hollywood

Minnie knew exactly what she wanted her Malibu mobile home to be when she purchased it, a calm and peaceful retreat from Hollywood. For a few years, she kept the double wide just as it was, a place to come and enjoy the outdoors, full of sand and fun. However, as her needs changed she knew she wanted to do something different so she began small remodeling projects, such as reworking the kitchen, replacing the playroom she had for her son with a third bedroom, and other minor changes. But she still wasn’t quite satisfied.

So, with a plan in mind, she reached out to famous interior designers One Kings Lane and they went to work. Going for a beachy, relaxing vibe, she knew she wanted lots of blue, not too many patterns, just a simple space to relax in. Lucky for her One Kings Lane was able to create just the look she was going for.

Pops of color don’t seem to overwhelm the calm of the interior.
The built-in became a great space to add decor.
Small stove for those cool california evenings.
Open shelving and blue cabinets create the perfect combination.
The beachy feel continues into the bedroom.
What better place to relax after a day at the beach!

This Malibu mobile home is just one of the many California homes we have shared over the years and we are sure it won’t be the last. Although we may not have the resources to hire an interior designer to transform our manufactured home into a beach retreat, homes like these always provide inspiration for our own remodeling and decor plans.

As always, thank you for reading Mobile Home Living.
