This great remodeled home is full of great mobile home decorating ideas!
Paradise Cove in Malibu, California is one of the most popular mobile home communities in the world, and for good reason – It’s full of multi-million dollar mobile homes like the one below.
The real estate mantra ‘location, location, location’ explains one reason for the park’s popularity. It sits on a high bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and has its own private beach. Many popular Hollywood stars have traded in their high-rise condos and multi-million dollar mansions to live in a manufactured home in Malibu. The beach lifestyle along with the (more) affordable home choices are a perfect combination for the rich and the not-so-rich.
We’ve previously featured a few manufactured homes in Malibu and they have all been spectacular – this home is no different! Homes in Paradise Cove are remodeled often so they stay on the cutting edge of interior design trends. This gives us a great way to see beautiful decor in a true mobile home setting.
This Paradise Cove Mobile Home has recently went on the market for $1,150,000 and the agent, Michael Gardner of The Malibu Real Estate Blog , was kind enough to share lots of great images with Mobile Home Living.
Mobile Home Decorating Ideas for Living Room
This home has a modern cottage decorating style with a neutral color scheme. The interior design uses a combination of monochromatic hues, bright white accents, and natural textures to create stunning spaces.
As with any home, a manufactured home has a few design issues that usually need to be resolved to create a perfect space. Lower ceilings is one of the most obvious issues.
Lighting is an important feature in any room but especially for mobile homes. The low ceilings that most factory-built homes have is a difficult design obstacle to overcome, especially if you are on a remodeling budget.
Additional lighting makes any home feel more modern. Mixing different lighting styles, such as recessed and pendant, puts focus on the highest parts of the room and tricks the eye into thinking the room is taller.
Installing curtains as high as possible on the wall also makes a room seem taller. This trick is often used by designers because it works so well and is an easy and affordable project.
Flooring that is darker or bolder than the rest of the room helps ground the area and also makes a ceiling appear taller. The idea is to put as much focus on the highest and lowest areas of the space.
Mobile Home Decorating Ideas for Kitchens
Modern kitchen design trends include open shelving, subway tile, apron sinks, center islands, and pendant lighting and this kitchen has them all!
The quickest way to update a kitchen is to upgrade the appliances.
Appliances come in all shapes and styles so try to keep to one style or color. Stainless steel is the most popular appliance choice but its not the easiest to keep clean.
Keep in mind that appliances should always be convenient and useful – substance is way more important than style.
Installing an island is a great idea for both small and large kitchens. Additional counter space and storage is perfect for the smaller kitchens. Try to use a counter top material that either matches the other counters or use a completely different material to make it stand out.
Floor to Ceiling Kitchen Cabinetry
Floor to ceiling cabinetry in a mobile home is a great idea.
Most factory standard manufactured homes have cabinetry that stops 12-18 inches below the ceiling. This pulls the eye to the middle range of the room and makes the space seem smaller. Lift it up as far as you can or add trim to make it look like a completely built-in unit – the room will instantly appear taller and custom.
Open Kitchen Shelving
The big trend in the kitchen design the last year or two is open shelving. Whether you use standard cabinets with lighted backgrounds and glass doors or just plain shelving, The trend is great for small kitchens because it makes a room appear larger while giving you ample storage space.
Mobile Home Decorating Ideas for Dining Room
The dining room in most manufactured homes is right beside the kitchen and close to the living room, this home is no different. If your home has an open layout like this one, you can use the same concept as the owners did here -use the same or similar elements from the living room and the kitchen to create a cohesive, yet original, style that goes together beautifully.
The darker grey accent wall in this dining room perfectly incorporates the color from the shades in the living room, kitchen, and dining room. Using a widely used but non-prominent color that can be found throughout an open space as your accent wall color pulls the separate spaces together.
Stripes and zig-zags is a popular trend these days. Not too long ago it was popular to paint stripes on your walls but that trend seems to be phasing out slowly. Nowadays, adding stripes with fabric materials such as curtains, rugs, and pillows is the interior designer’s top choice.
The designer uses a large ceiling light made of drift wood along with shades and dining room chairs made of wicker to introduce texture into the dining room. Texture is a perfect way to add interest and detail to the space and you don’t need a lot of it to make a big impact.
Below you can see the stripes of the curtains along with the texture of the shades. The colors and textures are a very visually appealing combination.
Mobile Home Decorating Ideas for Beautiful Master Bedroom
This subdued master bedroom is as gorgeous as the rest of the home!
The same color theme and textural elements have been brought into the room to create a very subdued and relaxing atmosphere. This is definitely a bedroom that makes a statement without saying a word!
Mobile Home Decorating Ideas for Bathrooms
Sleek and subdued color best describes this beautiful bathroom.
The same color combinations are used throughout the home, including the bathroom. This trend is great for smaller homes and those remodeling their homes on a budget. Buying paint, tile and fabric in bulk is a very cost effective way to save money.
A more subdued color palette seems to be the preferred choice for interior designers these days with natural texture used to add the unique touches that every space needs.
This is a beautiful manufactured home with lots of great decorating and remodeling inspiration. I love everything about it!
