Cool Coastal Double Wide

Coastal cottage and country-primitive are the two most popular styles here at Mobile Home Living. The coastal cottage style is famous for its cozy decor that combines natural textures and light colors to create an inviting space.

Luckily a reader of MHL and fellow-blogger, Cindy Hughes of My Mobile Cottage, has shared her beautiful coastal cottage style manufactured home with us. It incorporates all the best elements of the trend and is a perfect example of just how stylish manufactured homes can be!

You can easily turn your manufactured home into a cool coastal cottage and this home can give you plenty of inspiration to do it!

Living Room

A signature of the cottage style is to use as much as white and light colors as possible. Cindy did just that!

The walls are painted a light yellow and acts as a mellow backdrop to the all-white furnishings and decor. The only dark tone is used on the floor – it grounds the room and provides plenty of contrast to emphasize the furnishings.

The faux-paneling that is widely used in manufactured homes is a perfect match for the cottage style. Painting over the paneling adds texture as well as vertical lines to help make a room seem larger and taller.

The mirror above the faux-fireplace allows light to bounce around the room and creates an additional dimension to the space. Mirrors are perfect for small rooms!

Kitchen

The kitchen continues the beach white cottage decor. In fact, the entire home is in the popular beach cottage style.

White cabinetry paired with stainless steel appliances and natural wood elements creates a stunning space.

Fancy scroll-work attached to the bottom of the kitchen cabinets give the room a true cottage feel.

Cindy takes full advantage of the space above the refrigerator too. A plate storage rack was added to provide additional storage and create a floor-to-ceiling focal point.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms are perfect!

Both bathrooms in this gorgeous manufactured home are perfect examples of adding the traditional cottage style within a modern space.

Bead-boarding, traditionally-built furniture used as cabinetry, and clean-lines paired with subtle silver faucets come together to create a perfect bathroom.

Exterior

The exterior of the home is as beautiful as the interior. The home’s siding was painted in a natural tone and paired with clean white trim.

Cindy shares lots more about her remodeling adventures on her blog My Mobile Cottage. It’s well-written and very informative.

Living in a mobile or manufactured home doesn’t mean compromising on style or charm.  As a matter of fact, owning one of these “original tiny homes” provides you with the perfect canvas to daydream about possibilities and then turn those dreams into your very own perfect home reality.  In my blog, My Mobile Cottage I chronicle our journey of rehabbing what was a sad and well-used manufactured home and immersing it with cottage style and charm.  Now this once forgotten home that no one wanted, has turned into what is now known as the Perfect Mobile Cottage.

I continue to be amazed and thankful for all the beautiful homes we get to feature here at Mobile Home Living.

Each and every home continues to inspire and teach me that these homes are amazing – they’re affordable, easy to own, and can be decorated to rival any site-built home you put against them. What more would you need in a home?

Thank you for reading Mobile Home Living!

  1. Beautiful and it is easy to see the care and planning that was taken. I love your attitude as well as your style. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love this place! Looks so beautiful. We have the same kitchen island and I’ve threatened to stain the top dark for a long time. Now that I see what it will look like, I think I’m going to go for it. I also love the idea of the sideboard in the bathroom. I’m looking to put a long vanity in my master bath, I think this is just the ticket!

    Thanks for the great post.
