A few years ago we featured an excellent remodel of an older mobile home, Shannon’s Shabby Chic Double Wide Remodel. It included some impressive shabby chic home decor that we absolutely loved. So, today we wanted to check in and see what Shannon has been up to with a shabby chic remodel update.
Shannon is a second-hand pro by profession. Her business is based on vintage and used items, which means she has access to great pieces at all times. Be sure to check out her facebook page for a look at her many finds!
A Knack for Making What Is Old New Again
One of Shannon’s projects since we last checked in was to change out the carpet in the living room for some new flooring. As we have talked about before, flooring is the foundation of any good interior design project. She also found a couple of great pieces on the curb which she refinished and repurposed. You would never know from looking at them that someone had tossed them out!
Be Creative with Storage
We all know that storage is essential. And, unfortunately, most mobile homes do not have enough of it. Which is why Shannon has found not only creative ways to display her many vintage finds, but to find practical uses for them as well. For example, a small buffet she picked up is now the perfect spot for a coffee bar in the kitchen. Also, a larger cabinet for storage is in the dining room. These pieces add to Shannon’s shabby chic style while providing much-needed storage space.
Shabby Chic Remodel Update: Guest Bedroom
According to Shannon’s article on Hometalk, her guest bedroom has been updated the most since we last checked in. There are so many things that we love about this room. The entire space is full of vintage pieces, from her collection of cameras on a shelf mounted over the bed to the small chest that holds a collection of antique bound books. Another favorite of this room? The clever use of chalkboard paint on one wall. Using chalkboard paint is becoming very popular in rooms other than just the kitchen!
Shannon continues to show us with her shabby chic remodel update that our mobile homes are full of potential and all you have to do is use your imagination to give your homes your sense of style. Whether it be the rustic farmhouse, shabby chic, or a mixture of all the things you love, the choice is yours.
