This country mobile home is one we couldnโt wait to share. It comes to us from Laura Jean who lives in a 1994 Commodore double wide with her husband and their two teenagers, two doxies, and a cat. The family inherited the double wide and moved it 17 miles from a mobile home park onto land they owned on Lake Ontario. Then the work began.
First Things First
The first project to be completed before Laura could work her magic on the inside was to add a block basement in as a foundation prior to setting the mobile home. After completion, the home then had two bedrooms upstairs and two baths. There are also two bedrooms, a storage area, family room, and home gym downstairs. Located on 25 acres there was also plenty of room to add a garage, front porch, a large deck, pool and even a hot tub!
Country Mobile Home Decor Galore
Laura is quite the decorator and DIYer as you will soon see! One of her top projects involved the bathrooms in their country mobile home.
Rather than change the flooring in the bathrooms, Laura decided to paint and stencil both bathrooms using fusion mineral paint and an acrylic matte poly. They have held up for 3 years without a single scratch!! ย You canโt even tell they are the same floors.
Laura offered up some great advice regarding those pesky battens that are so common in mobile homes, if you donโt have the time, money or energy to replace the panel walls paint all your walls with a nice warm white. She says she doesnโt even mind the panel strips now.
Laura tells us โOur kitchen is my favorite room. We painted the cabinets, removed two divider walls ( they had shelves and mirrors and were very โtrailer-ishโ). We also replaced the counter tops and put in a new floor. I found an island on FB marketplace for $40 and updated it (itโs my favorite piece in my home).โ We can see why!

Another tip from Laura is most mobile homes come with hollow core doors. Donโt be afraid to paint them too!! Paint does wonders!!
We are in awe of Lauraโs sense of style. Everything in her home compliments each other so well you would think that she had a personal designer come in and get her home magazine ready! Even all of her light fixtures have personality.
