Clayton’s I House Design

The Clayton I House was developed in 2008 to give the public another option in mobile/manufactured/pre-fab home design. This home focuses on ultra-modern design, environmentally friendly products, and a hefty price tag. Which is its only downfall, at over $75,000 it’s entirely too expensive. Instead of trying to please the buyers of standard mobile homes, they tried to entice the green yuppie market. Rich, young professionals don’t want anything to do with mobile homes even if they don’t look like one, which is why I believe it hasn’t sold very well at all.

The Features of the Clayton I House

Clayton’s president asked the architects to design a unit that could be built in the factories they already had and have the least amount of material waste. The designers started with a butterfly roof that was designed for a rainwater catchment system, as well as to carry the optional $8,000 solar PV system. The home has IKEA fixtures, dual-flush toilets, recycled decking materials, and low E efficient windows. It also utilizes the popular Japanese style climate control system in each room.
The home is 992 square feet with the bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The home also has an extended room with a bathroom, which also features an awesome rooftop deck.

The interior of the Clayton I House has a very sleek and modern look as well. The kitchen offers ample storage and high-end appliances. The bedrooms have built-in storage as does the living room.

The Future of Mobile Home Design? 6

The Future of Mobile Home Design?

Is this what we can expect in mobile home design?

The ‘Be Coc Mobile Home’ is a mobile home design for the future. While I’m uncertain if it is to be used as an RV pull along or a permanent dwelling it still gives a good example of what we can expect from mobile home design-builders in the future.

Be Coc Mobile Home

The Be Coc Mobile Home design features a bathroom, kitchen, lounge area and uses clean energy. The energy it accumulates daily is stored and can be utilized anywhere and anytime. This home is luxurious and trendy while maintaining the environment. The TrendHunter article this home was found in recognizes it as a customizable mobile home so I’m sure the buyer can choose the colors and features.

Interior/Exterior of Modern Manufactured Home

I know this is only a design but perhaps it can inspire you. The use of the solar panels are very possible for a mobile home, especially the flat roofed ones. By using a lot of mirrors a mobile home looks and feels a lot larger than it really is. The tables and beds can be put up and out of the way when not in use which is a practice I think more mobile home owners could utilize.

When your looking for inspiration for your mobile home updates don’t forget to look to the future and the past. There’s always something you can find that fits your taste and lifestyle.
